THERMAL IMAGING
active building inspections has industry training and experience in the use of thermal imaging cameras also known as infrared cameras.
What is thermal imaging?
Thermal imaging known as a thermograph is made up of heat signatures where a photograph is made from light signatures.
Why is thermal imaging beneficial to an inspection?
Thermal image cameras are used to detect heat differences or heat transfer on the surfaces of the various building elements (usually floors, wall and ceilings.) The images produced can assist in identifying water leaks, possible termite activity or termite damage.
Can thermal image cameras see through walls?
No - they detect only the surface temperature which may vary due to the type of building product and the thickness; or other contributing factors like insulation or heat transfer.
